Energy Star Is a Sign of Efficiency

What’s the best way to identify an energy-efficient air conditioner or heat pump? Just look for the Energy Star logo. If a unit carries this symbol it means that it’s at least 20 percent more efficient than the federal government’s current minimum efficiency standard. American Standard’s air conditioners and heat pumps with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 12 or higher qualify for the Energy Star label. SEER is a measure of a unit’s cooling efficiency. The higher the SEER, the higher the efficiency. The higher the efficiency, the greater the potential for lower energy bills, which means your cooling system will be less costly to operate over time.
The Energy Star program was developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a way of promoting more energy-efficient air conditioners and heat pumps in order to reduce the nation’s energy consumption. Many utility companies and financial institutions offer local incentives to support the purchase of Energy Star products. Be sure to ask your American Standard dealer for more details.
Exclusive Comfort-R™ enhanced cooling/dehumidification mode
Set by the installer, Comfort-RTM is a method of ramping up airflow so it gets cooler faster, which means your comfort is attained much sooner.
During Cooling, air moves over the coil more slowly at start-up. This allows the coil to rapidly cool down, resulting in increased moisture removal. This managed cycle of cooling reduces temperature variance and increases dehumidification.

Most manufacturers use industry standard coils in their air conditioners. Not American Standard. Constructed of thousands of tiny aluminum spines bonded to continuous aluminum refrigerant tubing, Spine Fin™ has a greater surface area, which leads to greater heat transfer capabilities. ANd, this patented design is unbeatable in providing retained efficiency over time. That's because Spine Fin™ doesn't deteriorate or become clogged with debris as easily as industry standard coils, so the efficiency you buy today is the efficiency you'll have tomorrow, and beyond.
Even, Two-stage Comfort
Your present air conditioner more than likely allows a temperature swing of 3 to 5 degrees before turning on or off. With an American Standard Allegience 18 or 16, those days are gone forever.
Instead of operating on a single speed, and Allegiance 18 two-stage, compressor air conditioning system operates efficiently at a lower speed most of the time. On extremely hot days, it switches to the higher stage to make sure your home's comfort is maintained. Two stage cooling also puts an end to temperature swings. Since it operates at a slower speed most of the time, cool, conditioned air is distributed consistently and evenly throughout your home for the ultimate level of comfort.
